Children's MinistriesCentenary United Methodist Church seeks to provide a nurturing, loving, and safe environment for all God’s children. The Children’s Council meets regularly to insure the ongoing activities of Children’s ministries. Current Chairperson, Lauren Woodworth, works closely with members to oversee a well-grounded Sunday School program, Children’s Church program, Acolyte program and training as well as other ministry areas. Children’s Ministries sponsors a fun evening, called Trunk or Treat (a safe and Christian alternative to Trick or Treating). Vacation Bible School has a strong missional emphasis each year along with a special theme. Children’s choirs are an active and vital part of the ministries of this church. Children practice on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. There they learn of God through music – they willingly participate in special services (Mother’s Day, Children’s Sabbath, Palm Sunday as well as others.) Acolytes participate each week in the Morning Worship Service. Children, grades 3-6 participate and assist as needed throughout the service. Children’s Moments are a regular part of the Morning Worship Service. Each Sunday many children gather in the front of the sanctuary for a special word. Following these moments they gather downstairs for Children’s Church. Centenary Nursery is staffed by volunteers and paid staff. The newly renovated rooms are spacious and clean, offering a safe and nurturing environment for babies and toddlers. Children’s Church is provided for children in Kindergarten through second grade. It is a Bible based program of games, activities, and lessons staffed by volunteers. (Children are dismissed from worship following Children’s Moments.) Staff Contact: Allison Wally |
